BERGERPARKET and UPO - Pros and Cons of Floating and Glued Down Floors

Bergerparket and UPO are either installed as floating floors or they can be glued down to the subfloor using good quality flexible glue which is also ideal in combination with a floor heating system. The technology of gluing down the floor creates a floor which is just as quiet to walk on and which has the same feel as a massive woodfloor.

After many years of experience with installing floors, we and many professionals worldwide, highly recommend this method as it provides a very stable and reliable technical solution. The negative effects of joint openings, cracking and warping, which occur mainly in massive woodfloors and which are usually caused by climatic and rapid temperature changes, are thus reduced to a minimum. There is no hassle you might otherwise encounter during installation caused by dust during sanding and treating the surface with lacquer or oil since the final floor finish has been done by the manufacturer.

The locking system used is the well known patented joint made by the Swedish company Välinge Industry. This joint is used by all major premium quality producers on the market today. The glue free lock system is guaranteed to work during the entire service life of the floor. The main advantage of this system is that the floor can be installed and reinstalled very easily and quickly if the floating installation method is used. However, the walking sound is louder.
